Turn your wall into a dry-erase board with IdeaPaint

October 5, 2009 @ 8:47 pm

Behance Outfitters is selling this ingenious product called IdeaPaint that transforms any smooth surface into a dry-erase board!

IdeaPaint comes with a paint roller, a stir stick, instructions, a can opener, and enough paint to cover a 50 sq. foot wall space. And if you want, you can even use the included “Available for use” sign to let others know you’ve converted a regular wall into a fun dry-erase board. For $175, this sounds like endless fun. Go and grab some at Behance Outfitters.

I much prefer this over the chalkboard spray paint.

This is pretty, isn’t it? It was made in 2006 by Stuart McFarlane using anodized aluminum. The pieces store safely in drawers on each side of the chess board and each piece has a neoprene base to prevent scratching on the chess board. I want one!

TXT ISLAND

Hehe, if you liked the typography books from Brighten The Corners, then you’ll appreciate this video animated with type called TXT ISLAND. The stop-motion animation was created by Chris Gavin of Tandem Films and was made entirely with a push pegboard and a set of plastic letters. The sound effects really make this fantastic. :)

New Skateboard Graphics

I was just at the MoMA Store on Spring Street and I was able to get a good look at this fantastic book called New Skateboard Graphics from my favorite book publisher Mark Batty Publisher.

The book is bound with a hardcover and features full-page color graphics that really speak to the incredible designs coming out of the skating community since the 1980’s. Well-known skateboard companies such as Chocolate, Element, Enjoi, Heroin, Hessenmob, $lave, Toy Machine, and many others are represented in this seemingly all-encompassing collection of graphics. I’ve always said that when I grow up I’d love to collect skateboard decks and this is the exact reason why. Skateboard decks are often overlooked for their amazing artwork and this book does excellent justice to bring those designers, artists, and skaters to light.

Check out some sample pages in the gallery below or buy the entire book for only $18.45 at Amazon.com.

UPDATE: New Skateboard Graphics actually has a website with a lot more images and information, so check it out and pick up the book!

BOSS virtual pedal board

November 24, 2008 @ 11:03 am

BOSS has a virtual pedal board online that that’s separated into musical genres. Select any genre of music from the drop-down menu and BOSS recreates a distinct sound with a set of popular pedals. You can turn each one on or off but you cannot rearrange them or add other pedals from BOSS’s big collection.

Even with the limitations, the site is fun to play around with and hear what certain pedals can do to your guitar playing. I really like the Super Octave OC-3 pedal (shown above in brown). Sounds neat!

Monopoly game board redesigned using Helvetica (and the color white)

October 3, 2008 @ 9:52 am

This mock redesign of the Monopoly game board by French designer Florent Guerlain is nice and simple. But I feel like it’s too simple and because of it, I’m less interested in wanting to play Monopoly. The game of Monopoly should be a messy game, with paper bills, houses, apartments, and everything strewn all over the place. If I were playing on this Helvetica Monopoly board, I’d go crazy trying to keep the board looking as clean as it does now with nothing on it.
