PUMA is getting back into the skateboarding scene with these 3 brightly colored PUMA S skate shoes. [via]

I’m not a big fan of the colors here, but the shoes themselves are pretty nice. They come with added padding all over and fat laces which are always welcome on any sneaker on my feet. Yum!

Ok, seriously, that paper I was talking about before…yeah…haven’t even opened Word yet. Time to get crackin’! Here’s a picture that represents how far I’ve gone in my research. The picture shows an empty space. Ahh, you see what I did there? Clever huh!

Check out these eye-popping fluorescent bikes from Benedict Radcliffe and Andy Ellis of Fixed Gear London. The colors are simply amazing and seeing these certainly isn’t helping me curb my lust for a new bicycle. I’m not always a particular fan of fluoro, but for this, I’m all in.

DIY Bright Bike kits available!

January 25, 2009 @ 10:00 pm

About a month ago, I posted about Mike and his wonderful project of covering an entire bike in Scotchlite 680 reflective vinyl. At the time of that post, Mike was in the process of trying to get Beacon Graphics to make a smaller consumer version of the Bright Bike reflective kit (because an entire roll cost $100+).

Well, it looks like Mike and his efforts have paid off as he was able to get Beacon Graphics and Eyebeam together on a complete bicycle reflective kit that costs only $40. The Bright Bike DIY kit contains everything you need to turn your bike into a reflective mess! It includes 6 feet of 3M Scotchlite black reflective vinyl, a 4oz spray bottle of prep cleaner, and a felt squeegee.

If you get the kit, make sure you follow the instructions and watch this video to make sure you’re doing it right!

Wrapping a bike in Scotchlite 680 reflective vinyl

scotchlite-680-roll

Mike Mandiberg has used the awesome reflective properties of 3M Scotchlite 680 vinyl to wrap his bicycle and the effects are spectacular. Scotchlite 680 looks black in daylight but when flash or bright lights are pointed at it, the black vinyl becomes bright white allowing for high visibility. Mike calls his creation the Bright Bike and he’s currently working with Beacon Graphics in New Jersey to offer a DIY kit that will be cheaper for consumers. [via]

At the moment, the cheapest roll of Scotchlite 680 costs about $116 but if all goes well, Mike is hoping that he can convince Beacon Graphics to put out a cheaper and smaller roll suitable for covering a bicycle.

Check out the video below of how Scotchlite 680 works on the finished bike.

Beautiful Pabst Blue Ribbon neon sign

It’s a bit of a slow day at work, so I’ve been casually browsing the Flickr Commons photo collection. The photos available there never cease to amaze me. Sometimes I use it as a time portal to travel back in time to a place I wish I could have been at.

Here’s a beautiful photo of freight cars in South Water Street freight terminal in Chicago, Illinois along the Illinois Central Railroad track. That glowing Pabst Blue Ribbon sign is just phenomenal.

UPDATE: Here’s another view of the same place and the same sign, but from another angle.
