Check out this amazing photo of a new bridge being built across the Hoover Dam. The bridge will be named the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and will serve primarily to relieve the traffic going around the Hoover Dam (which you can see in the picture above). The bridge will be an extension of US Route 93 and will be a new connection between Arizona and Nevada.
Right now, the bridge looks like a suspension bridge, but by implementing some new bridge-building techniques, it will actually be supported only by the concrete arches beneath (the suspension cables will be removed after construction is complete). Construction on the bridge began in 2005 and is said to be completed sometime in 2010. This should be a site to see the next time I visit the Hoover Dam. :)

Christoph Neimann, the same man who brought you New York City in LEGO pieces, publishes his next article over at The New York Times about his life with a seemingly endless array of cables.
He goes over quite a bit of common problems that people have with cables, but the one above irks me the most. I hate how power cables these days come with some ridiculously-sized end that takes up all of the space on a power strip.

I really love the look of the OneLessDesk by Heckler Design. It is essentially two slim tables, one tucked underneath the other, that can slide out from each other and create two work surfaces. The larger and taller table is used as a more permanent home for desktop computers and vases (and anything else that’s tall), while the smaller desk is used for things like notepads, keyboards, and even laptops (and accessories).
I love also how it takes some design cues from the Mac Pro desktop. In fact, with its built-in chargers for various iPod models, this table is probably best suited for an Apple fan.
There are two models available. One that looks like stainless steel ($649) and another that is actually all stainless steel ($1199). I WANT. I WANT. I WANT. Actually, come to think of it, I just want a stainless steel table in general. I like the feeling of working on a lab table.
