Wow, I believe this is the first time I’ve ever seen a cake fashioned to look like a New York City MTA Subway car (an F train, too!). It’s not perfect, but it is kind of neat I think, so kudos to Dahlia’s Cakes for putting this together.
Spalding basketball cake
October 28, 2009 @ 12:23 am

Funko just shared this wonderful post from Eat Cake Be Merry of a custom-made Spalding basketball cake that beats any sports-related cake I’ve ever seen.
The cake is made by Liz Shim for her husband’s 28th birthday and includes even the smallest details of a real basketball like the little dimples on the exterior of the ball. To top it off, this basketball cake even comes with a wood-grain floor. That’s awesome!
Head on over here to see the rest of the cake and how it was made.

Cake shaped like a chocolate box
February 11, 2009 @ 12:50 am

Bakerella is showing off one magnificent cake that is sure to have any person — guy or girl — in awe. Believe it or not, every single portion of the image above, with the exception of the brown paper holding each “chocolate”, is actually part of a cake! Bakerella made this cake in the spitting image of a traditional Valentine’s Day gift box of chocolate and has posted the entire recipe online for those of you daring enough to try this at home!
If you’re less ambitious, you can also just try make the red velvet cake balls that adorn the top of the cake. The recipe seems a bit less complicated, especially if you’re less of an artist in the kitchen like I am.
The pictures are the real juicy part though so check them out below.
