Chesley Sullenberger interview with Katie Couric

February 9, 2009 @ 12:50 pm

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 which crashed into the Hudson River on January 15, speaks for the first time on national television about that day. In his interview with Katie Couric, Sullenberger revealed that he knew exactly what to do after he realized that his plane was literally gliding toward the earth. Even when he had zero engine thrust, Sullenberger remained professional and calm, knowing precisely what the protocol was to take control of the plane and land it in water.

This guy is infinitely awesome.

Suspect is a hamster with a clapperboard

WFSB 3 in Connecticut, a CBS-affiliate news station, reported on the disappearance of Molly Bish. Everything was going normal in the news report until the station decided to bring up a mug shot of the suspect in the case.

The suspect in question, 60-year-old Rodney Stanger, is apparently a hamster holding a clapperboard. [via]

I don’t know how this one slipped by. I mean, unless somebody named a file wrong or something. At least whoever was behind the control board was quick enough to pull it off the air almost immediately. But alas, the damage was done and now Mr. Hamster lives in infamy on the internet.

CBS weatherman proposes on live TV to ABC anchor woman

October 12, 2008 @ 3:31 pm

Lots of people in my life have been getting engaged lately and every time I hear about it, I always think about how the guy might have pulled it off. I don’t always hear about romantic and creative proposals anymore so when I saw this video of a CBS weatherman, Matt Laubhan, proposing to his ABC-affiliate girlfriend, Emily Leonard, it made me smile.

Matt basically convinced the ABC-affiliate channel to spare some air time for him to propose on-air in a total and complete surprise to Emily. The reaction that Emily has as she first recognizes Matt’s face in her studio is priceless. Man, I hope my proposal can be just as shocking.

What is Sarah Palin saying (round 2)?

September 27, 2008 @ 3:41 am

This segment is taken from the same interview that Sarah Palin had with Katie Couric that I posted a portion of previously.

Again, I ask, what in the world is this woman saying? I don’t quite think she even answers the question. And Jack Cafferty of CNN certainly has a point: If McCain becomes the next President of the United States, that puts Sarah Palin as the first in line of succession to the seat of the Presidency should anything happen to McCain’s 72-year-old body. That is not a thought that puts me at ease…
