Astronaut Backpack for children

September 28, 2009 @ 11:28 pm

This astronaut gear backpack is made for children, but if such a thing existed for adults, I’d want one. A top pocket holds two gloves and a front compartment holds a complete astronaut helmet. With a few zips, you can go from regular-guy to astronaut-guy in seconds.

The kicker? Well, it’s $44 and it doesn’t actually come with the helmet or the gloves. Great product but lame advertising.

Testing a child’s patience with a marshmallow

Oh, The Temptation from Steve V on Vimeo.

This might be one of my favorite videos online.

In this video, various children are told to sit in a chair in a room with one marshmallow. The adult tells the child that they can either eat the marshmallow now or wait until they come back and as a reward, the child would receive another marshmallow for their patience. It’s funny to watch the kids squirm and wrestle with the temptation to eat the marshmallow. [via]

Where Jaycee Lee Dugard lived for 18 years

The Frame has a look inside the backyard of Phillip Garrido who abducted Jaycee Lee Dugard at age 11 and kept her under a series of tents and tarps in his backyard until she was 29.

Also interesting to read is this report about how police failed to properly check Garrido’s premises two years ago during a separate incident where Jaycee could have been discovered.

Wow, it’s photos like these that sort of make me miss riding the Subway in NYC and seeing all this crazy stuff that goes on below the streets. Grotesk saw this fairly large Cadillac Escalade power wheel toy on the platform at Union Square. The pictures really speak for themselves. Talk about blocking the entrance/exit…

Where The Wild Things Are mask scares little kid

Where The Wild Things Are Focus Group #1 from Lance Bangs on Vimeo.

Spike Jonze, the director of the upcoming film Where The Wild Things Are, donned the mask of one of the creatures from the movie and proceeded to scare a little kid with it. Looks like the costumes are quite convincing. [via]

12-year-old speaks out on the issue of abortion

February 17, 2009 @ 8:33 pm

Wow, talk about the world’s most pretentious child.

I’m skeptical about this video simply because the YouTube user has no other videos associated with the account (except for the one above). I wouldn’t be surprised if this video was outed later on as an attempt by some group to rally support for pro-life issues.

While she seems very well-informed on the subject, I couldn’t help but get very annoyed at the way she presented the message to the viewer as if we were all a bit slower than her.
