A plane just hit the second tower

September 12, 2009 @ 2:59 am

Taken from the DVD September 11, 2001 – As It Happened – A Composite, this compilation video shows various news outlets reporting live on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when the 2nd plane hit the South Tower at 9:03AM.

The second plane (Flight 175) crashing into the second World Trade Center tower was the first and very clear indication that what was happening that Tuesday morning was more than just an accident. Included in this video are footage from ABC News, CBS News, WNYW-TV (Channel 5, New York), WNBC-TV (Channel 4, New York), NY1 (New York One, All News), Fox News Channel, WCBS-TV (Channel 2, New York), and WPIX-TV (Channel 11, New York).

War Child Presents Heroes Volume 1

I discovered the track “Victoria” by The Kooks while listening to Pandora radio and the album title from which this song originates made me curious.

With a title like War Child Presents Heroes: An Album To Benefit Children Affected By War, I was sort of wondering why I hadn’t heard more about this compilation. On top of the good cause behind the musical effort, there were big musical names on this disc like Beck, The Kooks, Hot Chip, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, and TV On The Radio which I thought would surely have put this album in the mainstream spotlight.

And there it was, unbeknown to me for more than a month after it’s official release. But either way, I’m glad I’m getting a chance to hear it on its Myspace page and so far it sounds like a solid piece of work.

The idea behind the album is that 16 musical legends would pick 16 of today’s biggest musical acts to perform their classic hits. The result is a bit weird, a bit awesome, and all for a good cause. So if you want to give it a try, I’m sure it’ll be $9 well-spent whether you like the album or not. Get it at Amazon.com.
