Wow, Lens posted this haunting picture of a deceased person on the ground after a fire at an Indian oil depot. The blast killed at least 6 people and injured more than 150. Frightening indeed.

Lester William Polfuss, better known to many as simply Les Paul, passed away today at the age of 94 after succumbing to complications stemming from pneumonia at his White Plains house.
Les Paul was a pioneer in the music industry, having his hands in the creation of the early solid-body guitar and the first multi-track recording device. Chances are that if you’re alive and you listen to music, then you’ve experience music that has been directly influenced by some of Les Paul’s inventions.

This bear attack laptop skin by Spanish artist Adrià Fruitós is by far one of the greatest laptop skins I’ve ever seen. Pick one up for just $30 at Infectious. Oh, and if you don’t have a laptop, the same bear attack artwork seen above is available in iPhone and iPod/iPod touch variations. Yippee!
Billy Mays found dead in his sleep
June 28, 2009 @ 12:57 pm

Infomercial king, Billy Mays, was found dead this morning after apparently passing away in his sleep. He was 50 years old.
The death was very sudden especially since Billy Mays seemed incredibly lively and healthy on Tuesday when he appeared on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
Billy Mays’ son (also named Billy Mays) tweeted about his dad’s death this morning after discovering that he would not wake up (see screengrab below).

Here’s one of the OxiClean infomercials that Billy Mays was famous for.
RIP: Michael Jackson 1958-2009
June 25, 2009 @ 6:53 pm
Multiple outlets are reporting that pop music icon Michael Jackson has passed away from a heart attack after he was brought to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in a deep coma.
Despite what seemed like a deteriorating quality of life in the public eye in his later years, there is no doubt in my mind that Michael Jackson still reigns as the King of Pop. A good portion of my life was surrounded by his music — I heard it everywhere I went — and as I grew older I learned to appreciate his ability to perform and entertain to a degree unlike any other pop music performer. If you want to gauge his popularity and influence in the music and entertainment business, you might want to have a quick look at this list of awards received by Michael Jackson throughout his life. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a longer list of achievements by any other artist.
Here is the L.A. Times’ front page which shows the headlines of the death of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. Sad day in the entertainment industry that’s for sure.
