Designing Obama has reached its goal!

October 28, 2009 @ 8:12 pm

Just a few minutes ago, the Designing Obama book is officially going to be printed! With a current total of 1000+ donations adding up to over $65,000 in pledges, it’s good to know that there are others like me who would love to see this book printed.

If you would still like a copy, you can still pledge to support the project. Your pledge amount will determine what kind of copy of the book you will receive.

16 days left to support “Designing Obama”

October 19, 2009 @ 10:50 pm

The Designing Obama book by Scott Thomas is nearing its final support and fundraising date of November 5th and the project still has just over $10,000 to raise in just 16 days!

If you don’t know, Designing Obama is a collection of the vast amount of artwork that helped draw support for then-Presidential nominee Barack Obama. It is due to the power of these visual images from these artists that Barack Obama stands as our President. The 360-page book is full-color, hardbound, and comes with an embossed sleeve.

A simple pledge of $10 will get you a digital copy of the book; a $50 pledge will receive an actual book with a white embossed sleeve (and also digital versions of the book); a $100 pledge will get you a silver edition of the book; and a $150 or more pledge will get you a gold version of the book.

You can pledge your amount now and the lovely thing is that your credit card will not be charged unless the fundraising goal is made. If it is not, you don’t get charged to buy the book (because the book will not get published). It’s a pretty great thing to stand behind I think and I encourage you all to be a part of making this book become a reality.

Designing Obama: The editing process

October 2, 2009 @ 11:19 pm

Scott Thomas’ project on Kickstarter that takes a look at the art behind the Obama campaign is chugging along pretty smoothly. Scott just posted some photos of the editing process which look pretty damn good.

Keep in mind however that Scott still needs to raise $65,000 before any of the books can be printed, so you can help out by pledging a certain amount and getting a copy of your own!

Designing Obama takes a look at the art behind the Obama campaign

Scott Thomas, the design director of the Obama Presidential Campaign, is putting together a book called Designing Obama that takes a look at the enormous effect the art community had on helping elect President Barack Obama. The book features the artwork of those people who were officially and unofficially helping the campaign gain attention in the media. Spread out among 360 pages are inspirational, beautiful, and influential pieces of art that each ended up serving its part in electing America’s first African-American President.

The wonderful thing about this book is that it’s being funded just like the grassroots movements during the campaign. Together with KICKSTARTER, Scott Thomas is hoping to raise at least $65,000 to run the minimum order of books. Any additional proceeds during the fundraiser (from now until Novemeber 4, 2009) will be used to print additional books for every single person who pledges to help this project through to the end.

Currently there are 4 levels of participation each with its own unique copy of Designing Obama. You can pledge $10, $50, $100, or $150 and if for whatever reason the book doesn’t raise at least $65,000 by November 4th, you get all of your money back — no questions asked!
Head on over to KICKSTARTER now to help get this beautiful book out the door as soon as possible!
