Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion & Architecture

October 5, 2009 @ 9:53 pm

Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture is a new book published by Rizzoli New York that takes a look at the varied and extensive collaboration catalog that is housed under luxury brand Louis Vuitton. The book is a whopping 400 pages of images showcasing collaborators such as Jun Aoki, Shigeru Ban, Vanessa Beecroft, Olafur Eliasson, Zaha Hadid, David LaChapelle, Jean Larivière, Annie Leibovitz, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Stephen Sprouse, James Turrell, Inez Van Lamsweerde, and Vinoodh Matadin.

Louis Vuitton has literally touched upon much of what we take in as popular culture and fashion and this book is here to show it all off.

The book normally sells for $85, but if you get Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture on Amazon.com, you’ll be able to have it all for just $54. Nice!

Earlier this week, I posted about the custom bikes Lance Armstrong was getting for use in the Tour of Italy. The pictures posted then showed only the frame of the bike but now Supertouch has released images of the bikes in full and they both look gorgeous!

The top bike was designed by Kenny Scharf and the yellow bike below was designed by Shepard Fairey. Check out some more pictures below.

Supertouch has also posted this video of Trek artist Shane Siedschlag putting on the Shepard Fairey decals onto Lance’s bike. AWESOME.

Japanese masking tape doesn’t come in beige

Somehow, I’ve been led to believe all my life that masking tape should always be boring and bland in appearance. But this isn’t so in Japan apparently, where masking tape comes in a variety of patterns, colors, and designs.

Over at the aptly-named Happy Tape store, you can purchase Japanese masking tape in all sorts of varieties for use in the US. Nice if you want to add a bit of flavor to your projects.

Thanks Chris!

This is a nice Flickr photoset of vintage matchbook cover designs. The set is photographed as a gallery, allowing each matchbook to shine on its own in its own photograph. Some make use of great typefaces and others have really simple illustrations on them. [via]

I know Josh and his family have a HUGE basket full of matchbooks and it’d be interesting to dig through there and see what treasures come up. Josh, you reading this? Get those matchbooks scanned or photographed ASAP! :)
