Underwater housing for Canon EOS 7D

November 20, 2009 @ 1:38 am

I don’t really intend to take my Canon EOS 7D into the water anytime soon, but for some reason, I’m a bit fascinated by underwater camera housings (or is it houses?). The very fact that I can take my camera into some place that’s totally not meant for a camera to be just makes me wish I had an underwater case to house my Canon 7D in.

Well, Ikelite sells an impressive looking underwater housing for the Canon EOS 7D for about $1500. I’m still not going to buy it, but it sure is the most complete underwater housing I’ve seen for the Canon 7D yet. It has controls for just about every part of the camera (except the multi-directional button on the back) and allows one to bring the Canon 7D up to 60m down into the water to either take still photos or video of whatever’s down there.

Man distracted by bird drives Bugatti Veyron into lake

On November 11th in La Marque, Texas, Gilbert Harrison accidentally drove his Bugatti Veyron into a marsh after saying that he was distracted by a low flying bird and a dropped cell phone. The Bugatti Veyron is known to be one of the most expensive cars available on the market. Surely driving one into a marsh/lake is not a good thing.

A nearby driver caught the entire incident on film and you can see the Veyron plunging into the water in the video below.

And of course, here’s the salvaging effort.

The Black Reflector 3M jacket

November 4, 2009 @ 2:15 am

Wow, this might be the ultimate safety vest for cycling or walking around when it’s dark. Skateboard company, Manik, and Hugeblocks have teamed up to bring us the Black Refector (Nightrider), a jacket covered almost entirely in 3M reflective material. I love everything about this except for the insane $350 price point. What gives?!
