Taken from the DVD September 11, 2001 – As It Happened – A Composite, this compilation video shows various news outlets reporting live on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when the 2nd plane hit the South Tower at 9:03AM.
The second plane (Flight 175) crashing into the second World Trade Center tower was the first and very clear indication that what was happening that Tuesday morning was more than just an accident. Included in this video are footage from ABC News, CBS News, WNYW-TV (Channel 5, New York), WNBC-TV (Channel 4, New York), NY1 (New York One, All News), Fox News Channel, WCBS-TV (Channel 2, New York), and WPIX-TV (Channel 11, New York).
I’ve said it before, but I’ll just say it again: I don’t like bacon all too much and this Bacon Explosion “sandwich” makes me thirsty just thinking about how salty this thing probably is.
BUT, if you happen to LOVE bacon and want to get a heart attack sooner rather than later, feel free to follow the recipe here and start making your own Bacon Explosion at home. Ugh, yuck.
I know this is going to sound a bit ignorant, but I don’t really know much about the Hindenburg disaster beyond the fact that it was a big German blimp that ignited in the sky and soon thereafter crashed to the ground. I never knew that there was actual video footage shot from the scene of the crash despite having seen countless photographic versions of the same explosion in the sky.
And because I found this video reel so fascinating, I wanted to share it here in case any one (or more) of my readers are finding themselves in the same ignorant position that I am.
The first video below is a Universal Newsreel about the accident.
The second video (below) is the live radio broadcast recording of Herbert Morrison as he witnessed the horrific crash. The video is split in two parts; the first with his voice sounding very high due to inaccurate audio recording; and the second with his voice corrected to sound like he did in real life.
And the video directly below is another video, slightly different, with more close-up shots of the people running away from the wreckage on the ground.
The Internet Archive also has a very good quality video of the Hindenburg exploding along with shots of the aircraft flying over parts of New York City. I suggest you check it out there if you want to get the best footage of the scene (YouTube quality doesn’t quite cut it).
A man at Walmart in Kentucky was blasted to the floor when a propane tank in the back of his pickup truck exploded. The whole incident was caught by surveillance cameras and the video is just shocking. The man reportedly survived with some burns to his body. There’s no word on how the propane tank became inflamed.
This video of a car exploding was taken with a Phantom 7 camera at 7300 frames per second. The video frame rate is so high that you can actually witness the shock wave emanating from the car explosion.
For those who are curious, the Phantom 7 can shoot video up to 500,000 fps! At that rate, the Phantom 7 makes the Casio EXILIM EX-F1 look like a Fischer-Price toy (but I still want an EX-F1, hehe).
