First of all, a big thank you goes out to Chris of Perennial Media who kindly purchased a pack of Polaroid 600 for me to play with after I had mentioned that I had received a Polaroid Sun 600 camera.
I had to wait a bit to receive the pack because apparently (and I didn’t know this) the price of a pack of Polaroid fluctuates like mad. One day it’ll be about $30 and the next it will literally jump to about $80. I’ve never seen a product go through so many price changes in one week. But thankfully, it’s finally here, and I’ll say that it’s a bit fun and challenging to try and find 10 things to shoot without feeling like you’re wasting the film. It’s been so long since I’ve shot any sort of film that this feeling is once again new to me.
While I imagine that this is good news to some, I have a feeling that this limited edition relaunch of the Polaroid One Step camera is just a good reason for Polaroid and The Impossible Project to make the Polaroid format completely unaffordable for most people. I can pretty much bet that the relaunch of the Polaroid One Step camera is going to come with a jacked up price just for collector’s sake. I’m thinking in the $100’s. I hope I’m wrong.
Turtle: The Incredible Journey is a documentary film about a sea turtle making the dangerous but necessary journey from land to sea. The crew behind this film follow the single turtle from the beach in Florida to the frozen north seas and then around the entire North Atlantic Ocean until she reaches the beach in Florida once again. It sort of looks like any other recent sea/ocean documentary, but I’m still intrigued and I want to watch it.
This is the Comcast 5-minute preview of the movie 2012. I haven’t bothered to see this clip yet because up until now, it’s been a terrible CAM rip of the 5-minute clip, but here it is finally in HD.
As I imagine, this film is probably going to be absolutely terrible. But I like disaster movies, so I’ll probably end up sitting through it at some point.
If you really love the 5-minute preview you saw above, you can download the files via Rapidshare at the following links:
In short, the two films played back to back were just as wonderful as I remember them to be. It’s been a while since I’ve seen either film and to see them on the large screen in 3D was pretty fun. Of course, nothing was new to me, but the 3D effect was good enough throughout the film to keep me entertained. It’s a gimmick to put a film out in 3D, but for Toy Story, it seems to work.
If you get a chance to buy tickets to see it before its two-week run is over, make sure you stay during the intermission because you’ll be treated to some nice little Toy Story trivia and cut-scenes that have never before been seen elsewhere.
Oh, and keep your eyes peel for the very awesome Toy Story 3 teaser/trailer at the beginning during the previews. Here’s a fun video just to watch now. But seriously, go see the double feature in theaters. :)
