This is seriously one of the most fantastic videos I’ve ever seen. It’s purpose is to illustrate the instability of the American housing market. Every successive house that is built folds into itself and sprouts the growth of a new one, only to repeat the process again.

The video was directed by the geniuses over at Beeple. Thanks Matthew!

The Monolith: a beautiful, compact stainless steel table with chairs

December 10, 2008 @ 12:29 pm

Look at how gorgeous this stainless steel table is. It is called The Monolith and it is designed by Gioia Meller Marcovicz, a German fashion designer who now dabbles in furniture design. [via]

The fantastic thing about The Monolith is that it comes complete with a set of 10 chairs, all of which fold up and slide beautifully into the table portion. When completely folded in, The Monolith resembles a stainless steel hourglass. I’d love one of these in my future home, but knowing the way things like this get priced, I can pretty much rule out that it’s too expensive for me to buy. IKEA, get your designers on this!
