Also from Duke’s Lexington Antiques Center are these two beautiful Mason jars –one from Samco and the other from Atlas. They are both 1/2 gallon jars and they make wonderful desk accessories and coin jars (that’s what I’m using them for).

Watching leather age over time

3sixteen just posted a photo showing how their new Tanner Goods bracelets will age over time. When you buy the bracelets new, they look pale and stiff, but I think part of the fun in owning a genuine leather product like this is watching it age, change color, and crease. Definitely looks better as it gets broken in (plus there’s the connection you have with actually being a part of the aging process rather than simply buying it pre-aged). Compare the look of the aged leather above with how it looked like almost a year ago.

If you’re interested in getting one, the bracelets are now on sale at Self Edge.

The Birds Barbie

Yelena would love this Barbie fashioned after the likeness of the woman in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. While this doll may look like the work of some bored fanatic, the figure is actually a genuine Mattel Barbie item. And not only do you get the comfort of knowing you purchased a genuine product, you also get the satisfaction in knowing that you paid about $40 for it!
