If you haven’t heard, the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game now has a release date of November 15th in the US. The New Super Mario Bros. Wii
looks like it’s the Mario game to have for the Nintendo Wii. Can’t wait to own it!
Kotaku had the hi-res art available for viewing, but they made it real cumbersome to download so I packed all of the New Super Mario Bros. Wii artwork into one zip file which you can download here.
Also, you can pre-order the New Super Mario Bros. Wii
game on Amazon.com for just $47.

Just read over at Gizmodo that the Apple Store is still selling brand-new first-generation iPod music devices for $130. Whether or not this is a mistake is to be seen (comments are saying that it’s a glitch but at least one commenter has purchased the item), but for now, it looks like you can get a piece of design history at the Apple online store.
In any case, seeing that post made me think about the design of the first iPod and how lovely it looked. I did a bit of research and found the original press images for the iPod and you can check them out below. I couldn’t seem to find a place that had them up for download so now I’m offering it to you here.

Gizmodo has all 35 new Apple Snow Leopard desktop images for viewing. Apple actually includes several images of snow leopards in their next OS release along with some neat hi-res images of famous works of art.
Gizmodo’s gallery seems to be a bit wonky, so if you want to download the images in hi-res, you can do so here.

Man, lots of new Toy Story toys coming out in the near future including these wonderful Lego Toy Story minifigs from Toy Story 1 and 2. The characters in this minifig set include Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jesse, Stinky Pete, Bullseye, Zurg, 4 Bucket O Soldiers, and an Alien.
I’ve posted some individual images of the minifigs below (click on the images in the next page to see them in hi-res), but you should definitely check out the two Flickr galleries (here & here) that truly show how great these toys are. Thanks to Upcoming Pixar for the links!
How awesome does Buzz Lightyear look here?

I’ve been doing some digging in the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Online Catalog and I came across this familiar picture of the Wright brothers during their first flight in 1903.
What’s remarkable about this — aside from the fact that it shows the first flight — is that the image is available for free download as a high resolution TIFF at 232MB (#LC-DIG-ppprs-00626).
Part of the reason for this is because the original is too fragile to handle and thus the LoC scanned it so high that you probably wouldn’t ever need to see the original ever again.
To give you a sense of how big the scan is, below is a 100% crop of the original image. Amazing, ain’t it?

Negative shows Orville Wright at the controls of the machine, lying prone on the lower wing with hips in the cradle which operated the wing-warping mechanism. Wilbur Wright running alongside to balance the machine, has just released his hold on the forward upright of the right wing. The starting rail, the wing-rest, a coil box, and other items needed for flight preparation are visible behind the machine.

There is no prettier laptop out on the market right now as far as I’m concerned. Admire the elegant Dell Adamo on Dell’s Flickr photoset.
