Enable hidden List View in Mac OS X Snow Leopard

September 29, 2009 @ 2:21 am

UsingMac discovered a new way to show the List View in Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) by using a simple Terminal command. If you type in the following command into Terminal, your folder List Views in your dock will become a slightly more refined vertical list.

defaults write com.apple.dock use-new-list-stack -bool YES && killall Dock

To disable and go back to the default/original List View, just type the line below into Terminal.

defaults write com.apple.dock use-new-list-stack -bool NO && killall Dock

An image of the boring original List View is below.

The heads behind the desks at art galleries in Chelsea

Andy Freeberg has a funny series of photos called “Sentry” which show the people behind art gallery desks in Chelsea galleries here in New York City. I’ve been to plenty of galleries in Chelsea and I can testify that many of these galleries are exactly as Andy has depicted them — nothing but tops of heads from behind big white desks. It’s funny and also a bit sad that human interaction is so limited at art galleries.

Hidden secrets of Pixar films shown in video

If you’ve always been intrigued by the stories of “easter eggs” in Pixar films but haven’t had the time to look for them yourself, this video does a pretty good job of showing and explaining them to you.

The video was made a while ago around the time of Wall-E’s movie release, so the majority of the video here focuses on Wall-E being hidden in some earlier Pixar films. Whether or not you believe the very brief reference to Wall-E in Toy Story, you have to admit that it’s incredible that anybody even caught this while watching the race sequence at the end of the film. Just watch the video to see what I mean.
