This is how a hospital might be like if it relied on alternative forms of healing. [via]
One Tree Hill: Dog eats Dan’s heart
July 3, 2009 @ 1:56 pm
I won’t lie, I used to actively watch One Tree Hill, up until maybe like 4th season when it got completely ridiculous. Clarence shared this video above (from OTH season 6, episode 18) where Dan’s new heart gets eaten by a dog. I thought the show might have reached its peak of unpredictability in season 4, but it seems like they just keep raising the bar…

The Renwick Ruins at Roosevelt Island
April 14, 2009 @ 7:01 pm

I was actually at the old Renwick Smallpox Hospital on Roosevelt Island this past weekend and snapped a couple of shots of the facade of the building. The structure looks significantly more stable than the last time I encountered it, and it now has construction material and supports all throughout the building. The former smallpox hospital is currently going through a stabilization phase that will ensure its place in the National and State Archives of historical places and as a landmark in New York City.
Another thing that surprised me this past weekend as I was visiting the structure was that it is now incredibly easy to just walk straight in and see the place up close. The fence that leads into the lower portion of Roosevelt Island was open and several people were just in the construction zone admiring the aging structure. I’m not sure if it was a mistake or not, but it certainly was relatively easy to get close to.

If you want to know more about the restoration process, City Room actually posted a video today giving a short tour of the grounds where the hospital currently sits (the video is embedded below).
Video of Hello Kitty-themed maternity ward at Taiwanese hospital

If the small pictures weren’t enough, here’s a video of the Hello Kitty hospital maternity ward that I posted earlier. Some Taiwanese people are just as crazy as Japanese people.
Thanks Flo!
Hello Kitty maternity ward at Taiwanese hospital
December 8, 2008 @ 8:34 pm

At the Hau Sheng Hospital in Yuanlin in central Taiwan, Sanrio Co Ltd. (the parent company of Hello Kitty) has authorized the use of the Hello Kitty image to be plastered all over the hospital in order to help ease stress during pregnancy and delivery.
The rooms and 30 beds at the hospital are all emblazoned with the Hello Kitty image, creating a hospital that’s simply pink and white all over. Even the birth certificates of newborns have the image of Hello Kitty on them.
I guess whatever works to help ease the pain of childbirth…
