Icon design by Jonatan Castro

Jonatan Castro not only has a great website but he also has some incredible skills at designing computer icons. Believe it or not, the three images here are icons and not photos (or photos converted into icons) of the actual products represented. If you want to use these icons here for your computer, you can download them all for free at Jonatan’s website.

The Container Icon pack

Smashing Magazine periodically posts these large all-encompassing posts around one topic/idea/theme, and one of the most recent posts they made in this category revolved around high-quality icon sets. When I think of graphic design work, I hardly ever think of icon graphics as falling into this category, but Smashing Mag sure blows this misconception out of my mind.

One of the icon sets they linked to was this Container Icon Pack which I thought was particularly appealing to me since 1) I like trucks and heavy machinery (ever since I was a kid); and 2) these container icons are very well-designed. But don’t just look at this set of icons. Check them all out and be inspired by digital artwork on a smaller scale than you might be used to.

This is seriously making me want to actually change my default icons. It’s weird that I’ll customize just about anything on my computer except for my icons, but it looks like that’s about to change.
