Cheerleader is crippled after receiving flu shot

Take some time now to watch this heartbreaking story of Desiree Jennings, a young aspiring cheerleader who has been crippled after getting a seasonal flu shot. It seems that the flu shot she received has triggered a rare neurological disorder known as Dystonia which causes her body to have uncontrollable muscle contractions. [via]

The weird thing about Desiree’s condition is that the symptoms of Dystonia disappear if she runs or walks backwards. In the video above, she demonstrates how she can go from completely normal running to uncontrollable body movements once she slows down to a leisurely pace.

CrunchGear just made me want to bust out the old NES system sitting in my basement after having watched this clip of Inside Edition doing a news segment on the Nintendo and Mario Bros. phenomenon in the 1980’s.

Also, I sorta forgot that Bill O’Reilly used to host Inside Edition. Weird to see him in such a different studio surrounding.
