Japanese Dole Banana commercial

October 24, 2009 @ 4:24 pm

I really don’t even think they bother trying to make sense in Japan. As long as the product’s being shown with some sort of Japanese celebrity, I guess that’s all that matters to them. SUCCESS.

Slow-motion video of Japanese people running wildly at the camera

This video made me so happy! And it solidifies my thoughts about getting a camera that can shoot at high frame rates. [via]

Chimp enjoys a magic show

August 27, 2009 @ 7:26 pm

Seriously, Japanese people know entertainment!!! Watch as this chimp thoroughly enjoys this magic trick show. [via]

Does Japan just have really crazy TV programming? Or is this part of a larger show? If I go to Japan what station do I turn into to watch chimps enjoying magic shows? :P

Vending machine turns into a graphic equalizer

I don’t speak or read Japanese, so if anybody wants to help translate the details of this video, please feel free to enlighten me in the comments.
Anyway, from what I gather, this is a music video by Alva Noto called “Unitxt u_08-1″ with the voice of Anne-James Chaton. The video was directed by Carsten Nicolai.

Light bulb lantern

bulb-lantern

I really want to make myself a light bulb lantern. It only takes a traditional Japanese lantern and an industrial duct hose, both of which are incredibly cheap to get. [via]

Thomas The Tank Engine as Voltron

It looks like a Chinese toy manufacturer has fused the lives of Thomas The Tank Engine (and his friends) with the 5 lions from the Voltron force and created this odd Thomas The Tank Engine Voltron toy. [via]

The 3 tank engines split into 5 parts and create the head, body, arms and legs of the robot just like Voltron (albeit a bit sillier looking).

Anyway, a Japanese individual has gotten his hands on this toy set and has graciously posted many photos for us to look at (translated page here).
