I absolutely love how this interview with Kiya Babzani of Self Edge is laid out on Hypebeast. I’m normally not a fan of paginated interviews like this, but when the site it is on is clean with very large photos to supplement the interview, I can let down my internet guard just a bit to enjoy it.
Plus, the interview itself is an awesome look into how one of the industry’s best minds thinks about his work/hobby and how that translates into wanting to share that passion with everyone he meets. If you haven’t already, check out the interview here with Kiya and then visit the Self Edge/3sixteen outpost in NYC at 157 Orchard Street.
KR (Craig Costello) was interviewed in Japan on his latest collaboration with Levi’s Japan. He talks about his background in coming up with the now infamous unfadeable ink and how it blossomed into a very lucrative and creative outlet for him. Check out some of the work featured in this vid! [via]
Jesse Thorn of Put This On, an online style guide for people who want to dress a bit more sophisticated, just posted their first video (hopefully of many more) showcasing fine clothing designers and tips on how to dress well. Their first episode (embedded above) talks about jeans and the unique character they develop as you wear them more and more.
Jesse visited California’s Rising Sun & Co. to talk to its owner about what makes a good pair of jeans and how you should take care of it once you’ve found the perfect pair.
All in all, a wonderful video that I hope will come out more regularly. Watch it!
A company called Winkers is selling jeans that look as if an animal is winking at you by utilizing the crease points on the back of jeans. I admire the ingenuity and creativity behind this somewhat ridiculous product, but I honestly think they’re kidding themselves by putting their jeans at $150 and up (seriously, Winkers sells jeans that go for $580). It turns out that powersliding is a very real sport and it’s currently coming up on its 3rd annual powersliding championships. If sliding around on slick surfaces in jeans can be a sport, then let’s put it right up there next to extreme ironing.
