Completing 3 laps in Wario Stadium in just over 15 seconds

August 31, 2009 @ 12:21 am

If you’re skilled enough, you too can perform this shortcut in Wario Stadium in Mario Kart 64 to put yourself on the top of the time trial records list. Very, very impressive! Thanks Corey!

Vertical jump out of the pool

July 20, 2009 @ 7:18 pm

BJ here can jump 3 feet out of the water and onto the pool’s edge without using his hands. Can you? I don’t think I can. I don’t even think I’d get close. Jumping out of the water like that is pretty hard.

Strange Maps has uncovered this image from the SFGate that shows the number of suicides that have taken place on the Golden Gate Bridge based on the location of the jumper. The Golden Gate Bridge is divided up into 128 poles with even-numbered poles on the West side of bridge (where there is a bike path) and odd-numbered poles on the East side (where there is a pedestrian walkway).

From the image above, one would conclude that pole 69 is the place where the most suicides take place, presumably because it is the highest point on the bridge and thus the furthest distance down to the water.

A sad infographic indeed, and one that definitely makes me think of the documentary The Bridge which I saw earlier on this year.

NY Post has exclusive video of the Ferrari that jumped the curb in Times Square

May 5, 2009 @ 5:15 pm

Take a look at this video of a Ferrari jumping the curb and hitting pedestrians in the middle of Times Square. Believe it or not, this happened during a filming of a Nicolas Cage movie and the two pedestrians that were hurt were NOT actually part of the film set/cast/crew.

Who approves a high-speed car chase scene in the middle of Manhattan without closing off the blocks to all pedestrians not associated with the film???? That’s crazy.

Update: You can watch the video in HD on YouTube.

Wow. How amazing is it that drivebysh00ter’s photo (posted to Flickr) is so much like Henri Cartier-Bresson’s famous “Behind Gare St. Lazare” photo? Definitely 2 great examples of the decisive moment here.

Travis Pastrana does a backflip on a tricycle

January 31, 2009 @ 4:24 pm

Travis Pastrana, one of the world’s best motocross riders, has recently completed a successful backflip jump on a tricycle. I’m surprised the tricycle he was riding on didn’t break and fall apart upon landing. This isn’t the first time Travis has played around with 3-wheeled stunts. In fact, he seems to enjoy the thrill of being launched into the air while on a big wheel.

Amazing though, isn’t it?
