It’s a pleasure using Apple Keynote

December 8, 2008 @ 8:06 pm

I just want to say how wonderful it is to use Keynote after so many years of Powerpoint torture. Apple’s Keynote almost makes me want to make a slide presentation. Almost.

Anyway, I have absolutely no use for the other two applications in the iWorks Suite, so I uninstalled them right away.

Oh, and also, did you know you could download the free trial on the Apple website and then activate it to the full version by using some of the serials posted on a particular popular website? Yep, you can definitely do that.

YouTube video test in HD

December 6, 2008 @ 1:22 pm

Holy moly! Look at the crispness of this video I uploaded to YouTube to test their HD capabilities.

It’s an Apple Keynote presentation sample I made and then screencasted. I left the video at full resolution and then uploaded it to YouTube and this is the result. I’m not sure if HD will play as an embedded file, so hit the actual video page and make sure you click “watch in HD” beneath the video to see YouTube’s newest video feature in action. THIS IS WONDERFUL!!!

UPDATE: Ok, I just confirmed that HD quality does not work when the video is embedded on a webpage. You must go to the video page to watch the video in HD.

Playing around with 280 Slides

October 19, 2008 @ 12:20 am

Hmmm, I’m just testing to see if the 280 Slides presentation I made will embed.

Anyway, I just started playing with 280 Slides, an online presentation maker/viewer that’s very much like Apple’s Keynote application. The 280 Slides web editor is as bare-bones as it gets without being completely useless. I imagine that this web app would be good for emergencies…but honestly, I cannot think of a situation that I would be in where I would need a PowerPoint presentation RIGHT AWAY.

Still, 280 Slides is fun to fool around with. Check it out if you’ve got nothing better to do.

Macworld 2008 keynote in 60 seconds

January 16, 2008 @ 7:56 pm

I don’t have the patience nor the attention span to sit through the 90-minute keynote delivered by Steve Jobs today at Macworld 2008, so it’s a good thing that I can get all of that information cut down to 60-seconds. Thanks Mahalo Daily!
