How did I miss this great model of the old Kowloon Walled City at the Kowloon Walled City Garden (which currently sits on top of the same site)?

I’ve literally been captivated by the pages of City of Darkness all day. This book is fast becoming one of my favorites on my bookshelf.

This is a real gem! I came across it after a reader posted a link to a forum of various Kowloon Walled City photos and stories. This cross-section illustration shows just how crowded, cramped, and complicated the old Kowloon Walled City was.
Unfortunately, this scan from a [Japanese?] magazine isn’t any larger. Believe me, if it was, I would so post this cross-section in full resolution. I tried to find the original magazine/scan, but I had no luck.
If anybody has ANY information from where this scan came from, please let me know in the comments!

I made a post a while back on the former Hong Kong slum known as Kowloon Walled City. Basically, the place was a densely populated make-shift city with high crime and supposed Hong Kong gang affiliations. I’ve seen some photos of the place but it never occurred to me that there might be videos of it online. And sure enough, there are!
In the video above (shot in 1990), an amateur ventures into the depths of Kowloon Walled City to give a quick look at the inner workings of such a place.
Below is yet another video showing Kowloon Walled City from the movie 1988 film Bloodsport.
I still wish that this place existed so I could see it for myself. Thanks Ally!
