Video of the new Nintendo DSi XL

October 31, 2009 @ 3:32 pm

I bet you that playing multiplayer Tetris on this bigger DSi XL is a heck of a lot more comfortable than the regular DS/DSi because you won’t have to flex your hand muscles to get a hold of the device while pushing all sorts of buttons. I hope I’m right! This looks nice.

Real life mega shark nearly chews through smaller shark in Australia

October 26, 2009 @ 10:11 pm

See that image above with the shark who has a bite mark right through the center? Well, that’s the so-called “smaller” shark in this news story which is gaining headlines in Queensland, Australia at the moment where summer temperatures are just getting underway (which means more people are starting to hit the beaches).

Apparently, the mega shark, estimated to be about 6 meters long, took ONE bite out of a 3-meter-long shark that was caught in a baited drum line and nearly cut that shark in half.

Here’s the news story from 7 News (below).

This is the design that BBDK created for an independent beverage company that makes 100% natural carbonated juices. They re-branded the beverage as ‘100%’ and printed the numbers very large on the bottles label. Very nice!

Beautiful U.S.-Canada border station sign being dismantled for security reasons

In a move I can hardly understand, the Customs and Border Protection agency is choosing to dismantle a brand-new, beautifully designed sign at the United States-Canada border because they believe it attracts “undue attention” and risks the lives of the employees working at the border station.

The sign in question, consisting of large yellow letters that spell out “UNITED STATES”, are hidden partially by the architecture of the border station which was designed by Smith-Miller & Hawkinson. The building itself will remain standing and serve as the border station between Canada and the U.S. and it is just the large signage that will be taken down. I don’t understand how this is going to make it safer for employees and less conspicuous to terrorists. I mean, could this building be anything other than a border station?

Fast Company has a few more words with the designer of the sign, Michael Bierut, and why he thinks it’s being dismantled by the government.
