So here’s the deal. Somebody in Stockholm, Sweden has spent over $1 million USD and 3.5 years of his life (roughly 20,000 hours) to rebuild the classic Batmobile vehicle seen in Tim Burton’s 1989 version of Batman. [via]
The pictures speak louder than the words here, so check them out in the gallery below and be sure to watch the video too.
A librarian at the Library of Congress gave the press some rare footage of the Lincoln Inaugural Bible that Lincoln was sworn in on during his first inauguration on March 4, 1861.
To celebrate the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth and to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Penny, the United States Mint unveiled 4 new backside designs for the Penny. The 4 new designs indicate important moments in Lincoln’s life, beginning with his birth in a log cabin, his education in Indiana, his political life in Illinois, and finally his inauguration underneath the unfinished US Capitol building.
This is the first time any sort of change has come to the Penny in over 50 years. The four different designs will be rolled out in 3-month periods throughout 2009. Look out for them, collect them, and then spend them!
If you ask me though, I think its time to get rid of the idea of a 1-cent coin altogether. Does anybody actually like carrying a couple of cents around? I sure don’t.
