Tonight at 8PM EST on TLC, a documentary called “The 650-pound Virgin” will air which follows the life of David Smith and his journey that resulted in him losing over 400 pounds in just 26 months.

With the help of a personal trainer, David was able to lose on average about 15 pounds a month. The documentary will also show how David Smith underwent surgery several times to remove the excess skin that was left from his massive weight loss. So far, he has had 3 operations to remove extra skin and doctors believe he will need 1 or 2 more to get things to a normal state.

David Smith appeared on the Today Show on Friday (July 10) to promote the show. Check out the embedded video segment below.

Stupid public transportation infographic

public-transport-infographic

I’m sorry but this is one of the worst infographics that GOOD Magazine has ever published. It attempts to explain the current public transportation crisis in the United States using the iconic subway map architecture as a model. The infographic is separated into 3 main sections: job losses, service cuts, and fare hikes. And instead of telling the viewer important information like how many jobs were lost or how much money was cut or how much fares rose, the infographic simply states that these events happened to various systems in the US. Big whoop. Of course they happened in the US, otherwise you wouldn’t be making a chart about it would you?

In the end, all this graph really tells you is how many people ride various transportation systems in the US (which honestly, I think could be handled better than using fat lines and skinny lines — especially if the numbers are already stated in numerical form).

Who approved this colorful mess?
