Highsnobiety posted this great video on how Rekiem Skateboards are made. The video was put together by Jeremy Hugues to highlight the skill needed to make a quality skateboard from scratch.

Inside the Arnott’s Tim Tam factory

It’s Tim Tam madness on Doobybrain.com this week!

News.com.au (I miss typing that) has a 45-page gallery (meaning, 45 images, paginated…) of the Arnott’s Tim Tam factory and it is amazing to see just how these chocolate treats get created.

If you really can’t stand the pagination, you can install this updated Repagination extension for Firefox 3+ and view the entire series on one page. Trust me, 45 clicks is too many to go through.

How hot dogs are made

Hot dogs really are made of the unwanted parts of beef, chicken, and pork. Makes me want to have one right now! Mmmmmmmm!!!!

Inside a frozen pizza factory in Ireland

November 20, 2008 @ 8:27 pm

The BBC is showing the public how a frozen pizza is made by giving an exclusive look into the innards of a frozen pizza factory. [via]

It’s amazing that 2 million frozen pizzas a week roll out of this factory with so little human involvement. Almost everything here is literally handled by machines, essentially allowing for the making of pizzas 24/7! I doubt the factory is open 24/7, but man, if it was, Ireland would be buried in pizza!

Also, the image below of sausages was very funny because they were waving around like they were excited or something. Watch the video, you’ll know what I mean.

How candy corn is made

October 31, 2008 @ 9:30 pm

It’s Halloween, so here’s a video on how candy corn is made.

It’s probably too late now to get some candy corn for trick or treaters, but there’s no rule that says you can’t eat candy corn every day, so buy some candy corn from Jelly Belly’s store now. Mmm! I’m going to go outside and get some now.

How globes are made

October 28, 2008 @ 11:58 pm

As I was watching this video, I couldn’t help but think about how easy it is for somebody working at a globe factory to lose an extremity or a limb. There are so many press machines in the process of creating a globe that it just looks like one split-second mistake could cost somebody a lot of pain. [via]

Then again, I’m sure that these people are very skilled at what they do (I mean, they must be since I reckon the pieces must fit together very precisely). Anyway, check out the video because I think it’ll give you a new appreciation for the globe.

By the way, does anybody still use a globe nowadays? I can’t remember the last time I used one.
