Here’s a preview of a brand new bag that was sent my way from Pac Designs, a reputable messenger bag company based in Canada. The bag is very comfortable and spacious and features some unique design elements that I haven’t seen adapted by any other messenger bag company. More on that in my full review, so stay tuned.
Just got word of a new bag from Manhattan Portage called The Empire that looks like it can give the Chrome Warsaw (which I will be posting a review of real soon) a run for its money. The Empire comes in black and orange and features large strips of reflective material to ensure maximum visibility on the road. It’s main compartment holds 3500 cubic inches of payload while being completely waterproof thanks to its interior vinyl lining. The exterior of the bag is made from the trusted Cordura Plus Nylon fabric that many Manhattan Portages are made from so it should be able to take a beating from everyday use.
Urban Velo posted this great DIY video on how to make a messenger bag out of vinyl posters or plastic bags from grocery stores. I wouldn’t ever trust myself to make a bag for every day use, but I would like to try fusing plastic bags together to form a Tyvek-like material. I could easily use free Tyvek for all sorts of stuff. Maybe I’ll make some durable and water-resistant folders to put into my existing messenger bag. That would be nice.
Wow, I would love to put a huge single digit on my messenger. You know, so that I’ll look like a stock car on the road even though I’m only on two wheels. Haha. But seriously, this batch of custom stock from REload is pretty neat.
I’ve always wanted to put some sort of design or logo on the bottom of my bag but I’ve never sat down and thought out a suitable thing to paint or spray paint there. The Silas x Manhattan Portage collaboration shows me that this idea of putting something on the underside of my bag is a good one. Also, purple and white are kinda good looking.
