Beginning March 2013, MTA fares in will go to $2.50 per ride, $30 for a monthly, and $112 for a 30-day unlimited.

I like the idea behind this: Discarded Metrocards repurposed to be playing cards with custom screenprinted faces for each suit. Expensive, but a good collector’s item: $150. Oh, and you can see the entire screenprinted deck here.

Designer Stephen Shaheen took 5000 MTA MetroCards and fashioned them onto this steel bench to create the illusion that you are sitting on nothing more than a bunch of fragile MetroCards. I sat on this bench at the Sloan Fine Art gallery during the Single Fare 2 exhibit 2 weeks ago. It was cool!
