Gymkhana practice with Ken Block and Rob Dyrdek

September 4, 2009 @ 11:33 pm

Professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek teamed up with Ken Block to film this funny take on Ken’s Gymkhana practice videos.

Where in the world do I get a mini go-kart like Rob’s? That looks so fun to drive!

Superdry Mini Kit bags for sale

Just a heads up: Ark Clothing is having a massive sale at the moment and they currently have the Superdry Mini Kit Bags on sale for only about $35 USD. The bags come in black, white & gold (shown above), white, and white & black.

I did a review of the regular-sized Kit Bag back in November 2007 and I still believe the bags to be some of the most durable on the market. Just keep in mind that this deal at Ark Clothing is for the Mini Kit Bag which should be a good size for most people going on short trips. If I had a choice back then, I would have chosen the Mini Kit Bag instead of the regular-sized Kit Bag because of convenience in carrying it around (the regular Kit Bag is a bit too large).

Keith Loutit just posted another video in his “Bathtub” video series where he miniaturizes Sydney. In this one, he focuses mostly on the activity going on at the Sydney Ports. Very cool, indeed!

Baked By Melissa serves bite-sized cupcakes in SoHo

Jenny showed me this wonderful cupcake snack shop on Spring Street between Mercer and Broadway today called Baked By Melissa. The place is literally a hole in the wall with an order/pick-up window and nothing more (think of it like a cupcake truck…without the truck).

Anyway, Baked By Melissa specializes in teeny tiny cupcakes that are about the size of a bottle cap (maybe slightly bigger). They’re highly addictive and delicious, so you have to watch out because one person can easily finish a box of 12.

Prices are high for the amount of cupcake you’re actually getting, but it’s good nonetheless. Just be prepared to be broke if you intend to eat some everyday.

Mini monster truck rally

Metal Heart from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

Keith Loutit, the same person that created the mini Sydney video, has worked his magic again, but this time at a monster truck rally.

One of the things I’ve always wanted to do was visit a monster truck show. The fascination with big trucks with big wheels running over junk cars has been with me ever since I was little. The only problem is that there doesn’t seem to be any monster truck shows here in the Northeast (and if there are, then they certainly aren’t publicized for us normal folks).

Anyway, watch this totally awesome video. Take special note of the crowds. They look beautiful when sped up and lit up by the explosions and fireworks.

Superdry Mini Kitbag

November 13, 2008 @ 5:48 pm

Ha! Superdry shrunk their regular Kitbag and are calling the new item the Mini Kitbag.

I own the regular kitbag, so I can tell you that this smaller version is probably more suitable for weekend trips. The regular one is just so big that sometimes I have a hard time finding things to fill it with (but at the moment, it’s acting as storage space for all of my other bags — that’s how big it is).

Anyway, it’s available in other colors and goes for $67 USD at Cult.
