Directed by Spike Jonze and starring Kanye West as himself, this short film is straight-up WTF. I need somebody to explain this one to me. I’m all artsy-fartsied out.
Thanks for the video – I had not see it before. No, these are not bryozoans! They are clumps of annelid worms, almost certainly tubificids (Naididae, probably genus Tubifex). Normally these occur in soil and sediment, especially at the bottom and edges of polluted streams. In the photo they have apparently entered a pipeline somehow, and in the absence of soil they are coiling around each other. The contractions you see are the result of a single worm contracting and then stimulating all the others to do the same almost simultaneously, so it looks like a single big muscle contracting. Interesting video.
And then Gizmodo posted this video of the worms in a lab. Gross.
Anybody know anything about this baby seat/car? I found this image over at imageR but there’s no information about it. I’d love to know if this is purchaseable or if it’s a custom project by somebody.
UPDATE:MISHKA reports that this thing was made by Elmer Presslee, the same person who created the eyeball inside the Cyco-Simon Mask that sits at the MISHKA Broadway store. It’s funny because I figured that if anybody knew who made this, it’d be the folks at MISHKA, and I was right!
Spike Jonze, the director of the upcoming film Where The Wild Things Are, donned the mask of one of the creatures from the movie and proceeded to scare a little kid with it. Looks like the costumes are quite convincing. [via]
Peculiar Creations is selling these two wonderful steering wheel covers that look like monsters. They are both $35 (blue and pink) and may serve a dual purpose of curbing car theft. Maybe.
