Another video parody gem coming from The Onion News Network. This time, they report on “The Blockbuster Video Living Museum”, a tourist attraction that shows how Americans rented videos before iTunes and Netflix.
With online services like Netflix becoming popular, it’s no wonder that video rental stores like Blockbuster are feeling the heat. I honestly cannot think of a single benefit of a physical video rental store over an online one.
Of course, Rembrandt’s collection of work is often confused and tarnished by imitators and emulators, some of whom were actual apprentices to Rembrandt in his own studio. The exact number is probably impossible to determine as Rembrandt himself sometimes left his work unsigned, but it’s good to know that there’s one place to turn to online that has all of his paintings available for viewing. This is what the internet was made for! :)
I think this is pretty neat and it’ll be wonderful to be able to see such a grand miniature of the former WTC towers. But God only knows when the city will complete the museum and memorial. What is it now…nearly 8 years since the 9/11 attacks and downtown is still a big hole? That’s ridiculous…

I didn’t know this, but for the past 8 years, the NYPD has had something called the NYPD Museum Show (not to be confused with the official New York City Police Museum) that basically shows off their long line of antique and current NYPD vehicles. It’s a car show with only NYPD vehicles. This past summer, the 8th annual NYPD Musuem Show was held on June 21st and 22nd and it looks like it would have been a neat thing to visit if I was around at the time.
I can’t seem to find information on when next year’s NYPD Museum Show is, but I really hope they have one and continue their tradition of driving these vehicles out into the streets. If you want to see more photos of old NYPD vehicles, you can visit Greg Reynolds’ list of car shows and search for ‘NYPD’. He’s covered the event for at least several years so there’s a good amount of photos to go through.
Here’s a video of some of the old cars heading towards the museum.
