If you live in Norway and you have the VG newspaper lying around, you might find that it comes in handy during uncomfortable times like the one depicted above when a young girl might want to start asking about the birds and the bees. [via]
The Onion: HOLY SHIT MAN WALKS ON FUCKING MOON
July 18, 2009 @ 7:11 pm

Photo from Our Dumb Century p. 113 [via]
Straight from the writers at The Onion comes this hilarious (and somewhat old now) fake newspaper headline that celebrates America’s first steps on the moon. I love the quote from Neil Armstrong that says puts his first words on the moon as “Holy living fuck”. The F-word never ceases to make a boring sentence hilarious.
Also, if you’re interested, you can purchase a framed or un-framed version of this historic newspaper to hang on your wall. It’s only $39.
Free Red Mango in New York Metro
May 5, 2009 @ 10:58 pm

Why do I have so many NY Metro newspapers? Because Andrew handed me a bunch and told me to turn to page 3 where a full-page Red Mango advertisement allows you to get one small frozen yogurt with one topping for FREE. That’s a pretty damn good deal coming from a free newspaper! I’ve got a few to share, but you gotta come with me before May 8th because that’s when the coupon expires.

Legendary graffiti writers on AM New York cover
April 1, 2009 @ 3:22 pm
Chino makes a good note about how the cover image for the March 26, 2009 issue of AM New York featured an old image of the New York City Subway with lots of legendary graffiti tags from the 1970’s. Very, very awesome!

Wow, good thing I held out on posting about this photo because BB just confirmed my suspicions about the caption that this photo came with when it was published over at The Big Picture.
When I first saw this photo, it jumped out at me because it was visually appealing but puzzling as well. The post it was included in was about the recession but something didn’t sit right with me when I saw this image in the set. My head was thinking “Nice photo, but this probably has nothing to do with the recession in its own context.”
Turns out, I was sort of right. These newspaper stands are collected here because San Francsico banned them a few years ago and are now just getting around to enforcing the law.
Newspaper printing press
February 27, 2009 @ 2:09 am
Believe it or not, one of my dreams in life is to take a tour of a newspaper printing factory. I know, it sounds kinda boring, but I find the process very fascinating. Everything in those printing press factories moves so quickly and so precisely that I feel like I could literally stand and watch paper go by me for hours without end.
I know that The New York Times has a printing facility located in Queens but I have yet to get a chance to go there and see what it’s like. I hope to do that one day, but in the meantime, I guess this video above of the last press run for The Boston Herald will do.
Anybody reading Doobybrain work at a factory and want to give me a tour? Contact me if you do!
