This is the music video for “Blue Steel” by Bot’Ox. It shows a bunch of scenes of a car in slow-motion driving into inflatable pool toys, soft objects, and things that generally bounce when hit. Pretty cool.
The Chemical Brothers – Star Guitar
August 22, 2009 @ 7:10 pm
I think this is my new favorite music video. It’s directed by Michel Gondry and it was made for the song “Star Guitar” by The Chemical Brothers. The video is made to look like it was continuously shot from the window of a speeding train but Gondry somehow made the objects outside the window sync up with the beats in the song which no doubt makes for an awesome visual trick.
I wish everything that passed before my eyes went along to a dance beat.
Thanks Clarence for showing me this weeks ago!

Talking objects in New York City

The Lost Tribes of New York City from Carolyn London on Vimeo.
Andy and Carolyn London interviewed people about their experience of living in New York City and then put their voices onto inanimate objects. It’s wonderful the places you can see faces! [via]
Shattered objects that do not shatter

Brock Davis has a neat little collection of images on his Flickr account that show pictures of shattered objects that normally do not shatter. It’s certainly fun to look at just to mess with your head a bit. [via]
Crayon Physics Deluxe
January 20, 2009 @ 3:11 pm

No joke. Crayon Physics Deluxe is one of the better games I’ve played on the PC in a very, very long time. The game won the 2008 Grand Prize at the Independent Games Festival and it certainly is worthy of such a title.
The basic premise of the game is to direct a red ball towards a gold star. To do this, one must draw contraptions, lines, shapes, and other objects that will make the ball roll in a particular direction. Everything in the game follows real-world physics, meaning that objects seem to have weight and fall as they should if what you drew were available in real life.
The game is challenging and fun and really acts as a sort of brain-teaser. I highly recommend this game!
