This is gold right here. BB has obtained a scan of an April 2009 notice to all NYPD officers reminding them that taking photos and videos in and around New York City is not illegal. Additionally, the notice reminds officers that they cannot demand to see your pictures without a warrant and they cannot ask you to delete photos or destroy film (although if they DO think you are a terrorist they can seize your camera and view the pictures ONLY AFTER THEY HAVE OBTAINED A WARRANT). Finally, it also reminds NYPD officers that the MTA has deemed photography as a legal act on and around the NYC Subway, Long Island Railroad, and Metro-North rail systems and that officers cannot stop you as long as you are within the boundaries of the MTA code of conduct.
