Here are some photos from the Superdry New York store launch party which was held last night. The store was closed to the public from 6PM onward and open only to invited guests and press to see the full set of apparel, bags, accessories, and jeans. I was told that folks from the UK (Superdry’s headquarters) were at the event to see the opening of the company’s first dedicated Superdry outlet. The store itself is huge (one of the largest single clothing retailers along Broadway) and the inside is outfitted with unique clothing shelves that were branded and made to look like they were picked up at the junkyard.
While people were mingling and having food and drinks, I looked around at their line and was impressed with their line of jackets, some of which I don’t recall seeing at their online store at Cult. In any case, I really wanted to try them on but I felt a bit weird doing so at the opening party, so I’ll probably head back in at a later time and let you know how they feel.
The attention to detail even came down to the tags on the clothes as some items included a nice and beat-up aluminum piece to take home after purchase. Overall, the store is worth a visit and inside you’ll find a wealth of great clothing and accessories options for this coming winter. If you aren’t in NYC, here are some photos you can check out.
Nick Campbell is the guy behind the fabulous shots seen in the opening credits of every Late Night with Conan O’Brien show. In the video above, Nick puts all of the original shots together and shows us which ones were used and which ones were left out of the title sequence. Great work!
Just north of the city of Poughkeepsie in New York on the Hudson River is a massive rehabilitation and construction project that is on schedule to be completed by October 3, 2009. The project is called Walkway Over The Hudson and it takes the former Poughkeepsie Bridge and turns it into the world’s longest pedestrian and bicycling bridge.
Anyway, it’s a bit far from the city, but I would love to go there and just stand on the bridge especially with Fall colors coming up. I’m keeping October 3 on my calendar.
Designer and director Karin Fong is one of the founding members of the influential design company Imaginary Forces. She has worked on numerous Main Title projects since she started working for IF. We caught up with her backstage after the Flux/Watch the Titles event in L.A. Fong talks about her recent main title and the making of “machine vision” for Terminator Salvation, her animated title sequence for The Pink Panther 2, and we asked her about her favorite title sequences.

It’s impossible to know the intentions of this boy crossing the border, but I’d like to think that he’s just curious to find out why Israel hates his side so much and why they can’t both get along without this wall in between them.
