Woman attacked by chimp reveals her deformed face

November 16, 2009 @ 6:10 pm

Charla Nash, the woman who was viscously attacked by a former friend’s pet chimpanzee on February 16, 2009, went on the Oprah show last week and revealed her deformed face to viewers. The result of the attack left Charla blind in both eyes and highly disfigured. Charla now has to wear a veil over her face in order not to frighten people.

At the moment, Charla’s family is suing Sandra Herold (the owner of the chimp) for $50 million in damages (presumably to cover some of the hospital costs).

But damn, I feel so terrible for this woman. If you’ve got a weak stomach, I don’t recommend watching the video above.

Michael Jackson interview with Oprah

June 30, 2009 @ 3:41 pm

Part 1

This interview from 1993 is incredibly candid and Michael takes the opportunity to squash some long-standing rumors about his life. This interview is broken up into 8 parts, which I’ve included inside, so click on through to watch them.

UPDATE: YouTube has taken down the videos for copyright infringement (STUPID). But Elizabeth links to an alternate upload of the video here. Watch it before this one gets taken down as well.

Oprah on Twitter by xorsyst on Flickr

Oprah joined Twitter last month and has since been somewhat updating her account on a regular basis. The image above sums up my initial thoughts when I first saw her very first tweet. Shaq says it best in a very short amount of characters. [via]

Oprah on Chris Brown: “He will hit you again!”

March 11, 2009 @ 8:03 pm

There’s been a lot of response from fellow celebrities lately on the whole Chris Brown and Rihanna beating incident, and so far, most of the responses have either been apathetic to the situation or completely illogical (meaning, It’s ok. We can look past the beating he gave).

With recent reports of the celebrity couple getting back together and even recording a duet together, it seemed as if Rihanna had no good advice from anybody. But now, Oprah, one of the most prominent and powerful talk show personalities on television has given Rihanna a stern warning against her recent actions, saying:

“And also, ‘Love doesn’t hurt’. I’ve been saying this to women for years – love doesn’t hurt. And if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again. I don’t care what his plea is, he will hit you again.”

I couldn’t agree more. I’d be very surprised if this didn’t have some sort of widespread effect on the whole Chris Brown/Rihanna situation.
