This is cool. Scientists have created a plastic polymer that can “heal” itself and put itself back together when cut in half. It’s being dubbed the “Terminator Polymer” (T-1000) because of its ability to mend itself.
This company called Cereplasts has created plastic that does not require oil to be made. Because of that, the product is completely compostable, unlike traditional plastics which leave a ton of chemical residue and sometimes take several hundred years to degrade completely.
It looks like Samsung is experimenting with cardboard as a means of making more sustainable electronics. If successful, printers may just come in perforated cardboard pieces in the future with DIY building (sans the cartridge of course).
