World War 3 isn’t currently under way (at least not officially), but if it were to happen I believe these fake WWIII propaganda posters speak the truth about the power behind the spread of information in the virtual world. The continual access to relevant and correct information is no doubt going to make a big difference in driving support — or disgust — against a particular side in a conflict. Check out the rest of the Flickr photoset to see some posters about the power behind Twitter.
Chairman Meow
May 3, 2009 @ 9:55 pm

I spent a good amount of time this weekend looking and laughing at Chairman Meow, a humorous feline take on the iconic Mao Zedong propaganda posters from China. The official Chairman Meow online headquarters is located at Obey The Kitty which shows just how far-reaching the Chairman Meow meme has gone.
Additionally, I love that there are so many ways to participate in spreading the Chairman Meow image. You can get bags, stickers, T-shirts, buttons, mugs, stationary, and even underwear donning the image of the cat with the hat. The only thing I wish they had was a Chairman Meow patch.

Chinese Propaganda Posters
March 16, 2009 @ 9:40 pm

I just received Chinese Propaganda Posters (TASCHEN) today and I’m sitting down with it now and enjoying the wonderful collection of posters and Chinese artwork inside.
The book is a 240-page, full-color work of art in and of itself. It is multi-lingual (German, English, French, and Chinese) but keeps the words at a minimum allowing the viewer to fully be immersed in the artwork. I can’t read any of the Chinese on the posters themselves, but that doesn’t hinder me from loving it and getting all sorts of inspiration from it. And for just over $10, this might be a great present for any traditional art-lover — Chinese or not.
Check out some of the pages below.

Andrew and I had a good laugh at my desktop this morning.
I can hardly see anything on my desktop now, but this background is too good to change.
