PUMA is getting back into the skateboarding scene with these 3 brightly colored PUMA S skate shoes. [via]

I’m not a big fan of the colors here, but the shoes themselves are pretty nice. They come with added padding all over and fat laces which are always welcome on any sneaker on my feet. Yum!

The Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility vehicle

AAAAANNNNNDDDDDDDD…this is dumb.

GM and Segway have come together to bring us the prototype P.U.M.A. (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility) vehicle which can go up to 35mph on a single 35-cent charge of its lithium-ion battery. The P.U.M.A. seats 2 people and includes seatbelts for both but no airbag and virtually no impact barrier between the vehicle and the outside elements.

And what’s with the lack of a boot or trunk space? Do people in the future just not carry anything with them at all wherever they go? I’m sorry, but this thing just isn’t cutting it for me.

I’m clearly missing out on the whole light-up laces phenomenon.

Where are my L.A. Gears?

My life in sneakers and shoes

sneakers-23

I just photographed all of the pairs of sneakers that I own on my hardwood floor and the result is somewhat mesmerizing. I realize now that I have enough pairs of footwear to last more than half a month without ever wearing a pair twice. If there’s one thing I don’t need any more of, it’s sneakers.

Photographed in total here are 22 pairs of sneakers and shoes consisting of the following brands:

  • PUMA
  • Adidas
  • ASICS
  • New Balance
  • Kenneth Cole
  • Dunlop Volleys/Mooks

I left several pairs out of this collection of photographs simply because I don’t really wear them. I decided to only photograph the shoes that I really wear on rotation.

I’ve included each image on its own page so you can comment on individual shoes if you want. So comment away. Tell me which ones you don’t like, tell me which ones you think are alright, and ask me things about each pair and I’ll try to answer them. Click inside to see ‘em!

PUMA Ocean Racing team tests their waterproof gear

January 25, 2009 @ 10:25 pm

This should have been included with the PUMA Offshore Jacket post, but I had already pushed publish before I came across this video.

Apparently, the PUMA Ocean Racing team keeps a YouTube account with videos of their adventures, and one of them shows the team fooling around and testing their [PUMA] gear. The team really put their stuff to the test, especially as they made 100% sure that their gear was as waterproof as possible.

If you can jump into water with your gear on and still come out relatively dry, I’d say your gear is pretty darn good. Watch the video for a demonstration.

PUMA Ocean Racing: Offshore Jacket

This past October, PUMA entered into the Volvo Ocean Race, a 10-leg ocean race that lasts until June 2009 and literally takes its contestants around the world. To get the PUMA team into gear, PUMA asked their Ocean Racing team for input on what would make the best jacket for the seas. The result is this Offshore Jacket in high-visibility orange, perfect for being spotted in the open seas and protecting the human body from all the elements thrown at them by mother nature.

The PUMA Offshore Jacket features a 3-layer GORE-TEX shell with inner lining that provides moisture management as well as breathability, insulation, and weather protection (taped seams, double cuff system, waterproof 2-way zippers). In a sense, you’re pretty set if you own this jacket.

No word on how much it costs, but expect to pay a premium for such comfort. PUMA is said to be releasing this item in select retailers starting January 24th. Check out Classic Kicks (NYC), Training Camp (NYC), UBIQ (Philly), Commonwealth (DC) and BDGA (Boston) if you want to see this jacket in person.

If you want to see some images from the race so far, you can check out The Big Picture.
