Watching this video has made me realize two things: 1) that I know absolutely nothing about cars; and 2) that this car is absolutely gorgeous.
iQ Font: the typeface designed by a car
July 22, 2009 @ 4:59 pm

Two typographers, Pierre & Damien of please let me design, joined together with pro racecar driver Stef van Campenhoudt to create what I assume to be the first font ever created with a car. The car’s movements were tracked by an overhead camera system and internal sensors in the car with custom software designed by interactive artist Zachary Lieberman of openFrameworks.
Here’s the video of the font being made below.

If you want to check out some behind the scenes footage of the making of this font, check out this Flickr photoset which gives you a better idea of how large the space is that they were working in.
Not quite satisfied? Why not download the font for free at the Toyota website?
1965 Shelby Cobra up for auction
April 29, 2009 @ 11:42 am

A rare 1965 Shelby Cobra is up for auction at Mecum High Performance Auctions and could sell for up to $15 million. If the legendary sports car sells for that price, it will surpass the previous world record for the highest amount a car has ever been sold — $11 million for a Ferrari California Spyder.
The 1965 Shelby Cobra isn’t just expected to sell high because of its great looks. The car has racing history as being the first American racecar to ever beat Ferrari in the world racing championships in Europe. The car is only 1 of 6 ever made and will go on the auction block on May 15th.
Check out the wonderful pictures of the car below.
Bertone Mantide sportscar
April 21, 2009 @ 7:11 pm

This red beauty here is the Bertone Mantide, an independently designed and manufactured car body from Stilebertone built on top of a Corvette ZR1 base-frame. It’s one of the meanest looking sportscars I’ve ever seen and the video on how they made it all come together is equally as impressive.

Zenvo Automotive ST1
December 22, 2008 @ 2:27 am

I think I’ve found my new favorite car! This is the ST1 from Danish car company Zenvo Automotive. It seriously gives the Lamborghini Reventon a run for its money in the looks and styling department.
I’m not a very big car fanatic since I normally just judge a car by its looks, but 1104 horsepower and a top speed of 233 mph sounds pretty good to me (even if I don’t really know how that compares to other racecars in production). Autoblog has a lot more pictures than I do below, so go over there and have a look at this beautiful piece of machinery.
