Need For Speed Shift teaser video

September 3, 2009 @ 8:11 pm

Need For Speed Shift is coming out on September 5th! It’s been a while since I’ve followed NFS game development so this is the first time I’m seeing a teaser/trailer for the game. It looks amazing and I’m pretty sure my computer cannot handle it. I seriously need to get an Xbox 360 or a PS3.

I mean, wow, just look at the screengrabs from the game.

EVOL creates abandoned neighborhoods with stencils

EVOL-buildings

AnimalNY linked to this fascinating project by street artist EVOL that depicts abandoned neighborhoods entirely out of building and window stencils on stone columns.

The location for this ‘city’ is a 10m X 8m hole in an abandoned warehouse floor; the concrete shapes are “probably the former foundation of a huge boiler plant to derive soap from rendered beef fat or other utilization of carcass. however, even 15 years after closing down, it still smells nauseous.

Beastcub Creations has made this neat 4-legged wolf costume upon commission and seeing it in movement really knocks you upside down in terms of what you think an animal costume worn by a human should move like.

If you want a custom-made costume like this, you can request one for about $2000, but know that you’ll have to wait in line as there’s currently quite a lot of commissions to be done. Check out the video below of the costume in action.

Successful anti-missile defense system tested; most realistic to date

December 8, 2008 @ 5:23 pm

This past week, The Pentagon successfully tested an anti-missile defense system. Lt. Gen. Trey Obering said, “Our testing has shown not only can we hit a bullet with a bullet, we can hit a spot on the bullet with a bullet. The technology has caught up.”

Those are some pretty comforting words I guess, if you’re always worried about some sort of large-scale missile attack on US soil.

According to the US Department of Defense, a missile was fired from Alaska and a second interceptor missile was fired from California about 30 minutes later. The interceptor missile then succesfully destroyed the mock-attack missile off the coast of California. Government officials are calling this latest test the most realistic of all of the missile defense tests conducted so far.
