The New York Times has graphed out the jobless rate for men and women of different races to better understand how the recession has affected each group. If you ever need to emphasize the importance of a college-degree eduation to somebody, this graph is a good way to do it.

The New York Times has been running a series of user-submitted photographs since the beginning of April that show how the recession is affected neighborhoods around the world. The photos are unremarkable in their own respect, but that’s what I think makes them so powerful — that wherever you are in this world, the global economic recession seems to have its place in both small and big ways.
There are lots of photos of empty offices, stores with signs of imminent closing, and photos of people curtailing their usual “luxuries” to enjoy their time some other way.
I just wish the pictures were bigger.
