Dollar Menu helps McDonald’s boost November sales

December 8, 2008 @ 8:26 pm

Advertising Age is reporting that McDonald’s saw a 4.5% increase in store sales in November. McDonald’s attributes this rise partly to its Dollar Menu, but I can’t help but think it’s also because people are trying to save money this time of year, especially with all of the layoffs.

Plus, the US is officially in a recession, so those $1 sandwiches probably come in handy.

Gray’s Papaya to raise the price of Recession Special to $4.45

October 19, 2008 @ 1:22 am

Nobody’s doing well during these hard economic times, and that includes Gray’s Papaya.

Starting this week, their famous “recession special” which includes 2 hot dogs and a drink will be sold for $4.45. In the past several years, the price of the “recession special” has gone up 3 times! This totally sucks because I consider hot dogs to be a cheap meal and paying anything near $5, even for 2 hot dogs and a drink, is not something I’d necessarily call cheap.

They need to change the name of the “recession special” to plain old “2 hotdogs and a drink”.

Stock Market rollercoaster T-shirt from Neatorama

October 7, 2008 @ 2:26 am

Neatorama is selling this amusing stock market rollercoaster ride T-shirt for $9.95 USD. The image is representative of the perpetual plunge and rise of the stock market, most recently today when United States, European, and Asian markets all took a steep dive.

The worsening economic sitation in the US is causing some distress in families with children in high school going onto college because some banks have stopped giving out Stafford loans.

Anyway, I really like this T-shirt. I kinda want one, but you know, I’m all out of money to spend on frivolous tees like this.
