This post seems rather fitting considering the fact that I just posted about The United States of McDonald’s. Anyway, here are some examples of the clock made of McDonald’s foods that DDB (The Philippines) created which ended up increasing sales in the area by 13.9% vs the same period the previous year. The billboards were put along the roads to entice people to go eat McDonald’s no matter what time it is. Pretty, eh?

Toyota is now the world’s largest automaker

AdAge confirmed it today in an article citing specific sales numbers from General Motors and Toyota. As of today, Toyota is now the official #1 automaker in the world, putting GM in the #2 spot. In 2008, Toyota sold 8.97 million vehicles compared to GM’s 8.36 million. For over 70 years, GM has reined at the top spot in worldwide sales even though their US sales haven’t been hot since at least 2004.

We certainly are living in interesting times. I wonder if GM will ever take the top spot worldwide ever again.

Dollar Menu helps McDonald’s boost November sales

December 8, 2008 @ 8:26 pm

Advertising Age is reporting that McDonald’s saw a 4.5% increase in store sales in November. McDonald’s attributes this rise partly to its Dollar Menu, but I can’t help but think it’s also because people are trying to save money this time of year, especially with all of the layoffs.

Plus, the US is officially in a recession, so those $1 sandwiches probably come in handy.

3 different Wall-E DVDs to buy

November 18, 2008 @ 9:03 am

I hate when studios do this on a DVD release. They put out several different DVD versions of the same film all packed with different features.

Here’s a rundown of what to expect when buying Wall-E on DVD:

  • Single DVD – Movie and two shorts plus some extras
  • 2-disc DVD – Movie and two shorts plus lots of extras
  • 3-disc DVD – Movie and two shorts plus lots of extras and a stupid “digital copy” of the film (this version is for idiots, basically)

This kind of choice is terrible. Studios should just put out one DVD at the release time with all available extras and then, if they feel necessary, put out a second “special edition” one years later.
