The Buzz Lightyear action figure that comes in actual movie packaging which I posted about earlier now has an official sale date of 12PM on August 3rd at MattyCollector.com. It’s still not exactly movie-size at 3-3/4″, but it’s the closest movie representation of the toy out there I believe. That’s good enough for me! I just hope it doesn’t cost a fortune. I’ll cross my fingers.

Thanks for the heads up, Zach!

The suck minimize effect in Mac OS X Leopard

March 4, 2009 @ 1:59 pm

I’ve been fooling around with MacPilot for the past couple of days and I’ve come to realize that Unix-based operating systems (like OS X) are incredibly powerful and customizable and that they’re dumbed down by default to accommodate the average user.

MacPilot is like Microsoft PowerToys for Mac OS X — but with steroids. I won’t go into all the fancy crap you can do with it but I do want to show you how awesome the hidden “suck” effect for minimizing windows is.

Why Apple doesn’t make this an option in their drop-down menu is lost on me, but it’s so much nicer than “Genie” and “Scale”.

1:200 scale model of World Trade Center donated 9/11 memorial & museum

City Room has an excellent set of photographs of a 1:200 scale model of the former World Trade Center complex that was recently donated to The National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The scale model was a gift from the American Architectural Foundation which exhibited the model at The Skyscraper Museum in 2004.

I think this is pretty neat and it’ll be wonderful to be able to see such a grand miniature of the former WTC towers. But God only knows when the city will complete the museum and memorial. What is it now…nearly 8 years since the 9/11 attacks and downtown is still a big hole? That’s ridiculous…
