Here’s an awesome video of Ernest Wright & Sons of Sheffield making handmade scissors. A putter (pronounced put-ter) is somebody that literally puts scissors together by hand.
I like these William Whiteley Sheffield Kevlar Shears very much. Black on black never goes out of style. Price: $66.
I imagine these scissors to be absolutely terrible to use. How much to make your hands bleed? Just $80.
According to Uncrate, this crazy scissor looking contraption from Leatherman includes 420HC stainless steel shears, a strap cutter, a carbide glass breaker, a ring cutter, a ruler, and an oxygen tank wrench. Everything you need to…uh…who knows. Why do you need this? You’re probably better off buying the Leatherman Wave.
I was rewatching this video about the last pair of giant scissors in LA and thought about how scissors were made. Luckily for me, there’s a video showing just exactly how they are made (just not at that scale). Don’t lie to yourself, you’ve always wanted to know how scissors were made too.
