Cat loves sticking his head under running water

My cat Dusty does this every once in a while and I don’t know why. But he seems to love it as much as this cat shown above. [via]

Abisko Washbasin

Look at this beautiful washbasin from the Eumar Washbasin Factory. It is sculpted as one single piece of cast marble and allows water to flow like it would in a natural mountain spring or waterfall. The design of the sink itself requires no drainage pipes which allows the form to remain slender and sleek. Instead of traditional pipes, the Abisko Washbasin lets water run into a ground drain.

I kinda wonder if installing a sink like this in public bathrooms would increase the chance of people washing their hands after using the toilet…you know, just to watch and see where the water goes.

Canada Sinking Ship

The Canadian Coast Guard released these photos of the Spanish ship, Monte Galineiro, taking on water off the coast of Newfoundland on Sunday, February 22, 2009. The Canadian Coast Guard managed to rescue all 22 people on board the vessel before it sunk into the sea.

I wonder if there’s a video of this event. If so, I’d love to see it.

Lavabo washbasin by Cappellini

Look at this beautiful and simple sink by Cappellini. Made exclusively for the SAIE Spring fair in Bologna, the sink is cut out entirely from stone marble using new manufacturing technologies that bring stone into the same arena as other more popular materials that have long been able to withstand such curves and shapes as thin as what’s shown here.

It’s not said to be in production, but if the price was right (which it probably won’t be), I’d love to get one of these in my future home! I’ll just need a separate shelf for all the stuff that normally goes on the sink countertop since this obviously won’t hold anything in place.
